WALK OF WONDER

A walk along campus in Nijmegen to create space for reflection and contemplation through nature and art.

Radboud University and Radboudumc holds a vast collection of philosophical and theological works on the biblical Stations of the Cross. To share that collection of information, they asked Fillip Studios to create a permanent artwork that makes their collection accessible and more inclusive to a diverse group of visitors and users of their campus. Fillip Studios created the Walk of Wonder, a route over campus containing seven different artworks. The layered illustrations are designed by Dana Dijkgraaf. The art-walk puts the Stations of the Cross in a contemporary perspective, one that resonates with local visitors and users of the campus, resulting in a contemplative route to walk and wonder at these stories and artworks.

The spatial collages are printed on different sheets of glass that are layered with space between them. This gives the collage an interesting depth. A very nice additional advantage of creating these collages next to the texts, is that people who are illiterate can also form an image of the work of art, without being able to read the text.

CURRENTLY ON VIEW

Visit the Walk of Wonder in Nijmegen, open daily and for free at the Radboud Campus in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The route starts at Huize Heyendael and runs along different locations through campus. We recommend visiting during daylight, as most of the artworks will be off during nighttime.
